New Year's Resolutions

A few weeks ago I crossed one of my New Year's resolutions off my list. I finished my first-ever quilt. I started this quilt last fall, and actually I made and finished my baby quilt before this one was finished, but I'm still counting this one as my first. Voila:

the back

the front

After I finished this I went back and read all of my other resolutions, you know, to see how I was doing. I was pleased to see that things are about half and half. No, I haven't been good about cooking dinner and trying new recipes (sorry Rob). And no, I did not learn to knit, nor did I limit my soda drinking to once a week (and I probably never will).

But I have been much better about reading my scriptures. And eating decent breakfasts (you know, on account of the fact that I'm really feeding someone other than myself). And I did finish this quilt.

I'm actually glad that things ended up the way they did. I think I'd be even more tired if I tried to do all the things I set out to do. Plus now I can learn to knit next year. And I won't have to think of a bunch of new resolutions.

Since we were taking pictures of the quilt, we tried to get a good 35 (1/2) week shot, since now we're nearing the end of things.

It may have been our worst "photo shoot" to date. See for yourself:

Weird angry eyes. It was really sunny out, so I was just trying not to squint. At least I succeeded in that. And also looking really mean.

Although perhaps not as mean as I look in this one. I dunno what the deal was. Except it was super hot outside. Yeah maybe that was it.

Then of course we started fighting about how bad these pictures were turning out (not seriously fighting, in case you're worried about the state of our marriage). Then Rob said something that was probably ridiculous, and took a picture of this reaction. Yikes.

We'll try again for 36 weeks (which was today, but oh well. Tomorrow works just the same).

So, how are your resolutions coming? Do you remember what they were? Don't feel bad if you don't. I had to look back on mine too. But it was kind of nice to do that, in the random month of August. Now for the rest of the year I can keep these things in mind and still work on them, while I enjoy the rest of 2011.

I love the quilt, and you look super cute! Love the dress. So, I just learned how to knit. knittinghelp.com has a bunch of videos and it was pretty easy to pick up if you decide you do want to do it this year. :) It could be a good postpartum recovery project for the days you'll need to stay in bed and recover when she comes.

I actually really like the lighting of those pictures.

Oi. My new years resolutions...
Not that well. But, I did accomplish the resolution of buying a house and going on a fun trip. I didn't learn to cut jayson's hair, but we did purchase a hair cutting kit..so that's coming along. I have almost finished three out of the six books I planned to read (wow that's pathetic. Maybe next year I'll make fewer goals. Plus, i've still got a good four months, right?

say what you want but I think your pictures are adorable! the first one you don't look mean at all! with your soft features and beautiful eyes, I don't think you could EVER look mean (lucky for lil M, right?)

I didn't make any resolutions. I usually don't, unless it's one big one for the year--mostly because I hate setting goals and then not meeting them, so I don't make them. Hahaha. Productive, right?

You look so cute pregnant. Good job on your quilt--that's a big deal! It looks great.
