Time is Flying By...

I decided I wanted to do something different for my 34 week picture this past weekend. So away we went:

We decided to put the balloons from my baby shower to good use. These pictures are perhaps a bit cheesy, but it was fun, and I wanted to do something a little whimsical for a change instead of just standing there like I usually do.

I had not one, but TWO baby showers this weekend, and they were both excellent. On Friday night, the Goates ladies threw me the traditional Goates baby shower. We tied this quilt for Baby G:

Isn't it lovely? I just love that big roses print. I can't wait to see it all bound up and finished. It will be so special too because everyone worked on it for her. And they made me a whole bunch of cute tiny ribbon baby bows to stick on her little head in hopes that people won't come up to me and say "What a darling little boy." Although I hear people will probably do that anyway.

It was such a nice shower and I always love getting together with all the aunts and cousins. We've got a wedding and a couple more babies on this side coming up, so there are more great showers to come!

On Saturday I had my last shower. It was at my mom's and my sister Chloe and my dear friend Karissa were the co-hostesses. My camera died early on in the game but here are a few pictures of some of the details:

Sugar cookies in the shape of princess crowns. Sugar and spice...

Chloe made these DARLING magnolias out of napkins! She stayed up until 2:00 a.m. working on them and they were hung all over the house. I'm going to hang some in the nursery because they are too cute not to save.

My mom's famous cupcakes. They got snapped up right quick. I only got one, which is way below my usual number.

Here I am with my two lovely grandmas. They both made me very special things for the baby. My grandma on the left made me this embroidery sampler which you shall see soon in the nursery and I started bawling when I opened it even though I already knew about it. She's also crocheting Magnolia's blessing dress, and it is so gorgeous. My grandma on the right made me this sweet little blanket that is so soft and pretty; she made me one when I was a baby too, so I was so excited to get it. They also both gave us some great baby essentials. They were so generous and I love them both so much.

And, yes, my camera died after this. I was sad too, because I got some fabulous gifts. We really only need a handful of things now to be completely set. This is such a relief to me, as the obsessive planner/preparer that I am. So I think I'm going to make one last trip to Target and we should be good to go!

I had an appointment today and it really hit me how close we are. Only about five more weeks to go until my due date. I've already had at least one "real" contraction as my doctor said, which is so crazy. Our baby girl will be here before we know it. I thought I'd be more anxious than I am at this point. Yes, when I really think about it, I get nervous for labor and all of that, and taking home a newborn baby, and finishing work and getting our apartment clean and feeling ready, but more than anything we are so excited to meet her.

And since I've gotten more uncomfortable by the day, I am pretty much certain that I'll be ready for pregnancy to end soon. But in all honesty it has been a really special and lovely time for us. Thank you so much to everyone who threw/came to my showers. We feel so loved and blessed to have so many people who care about us and our sweet baby girl.
